The mileage is around 43,432 miles and about 30,000 miles the car had some work done and has proven to be a reliable car. Paint is in nice condition and has the usual nicks and scratches but still has a nice sheen and is always garage kept. There are no major paint flaws. Interior shows it’s age and is in decent shape for it‘s age. The chrome does have some pitting and stainless is ok. Under body is clean and hog troughs are solid. Frame is solid and pretty much rust free with some rust on the bottom plate behind rear wheel typical of the avanti. Glass is all original including head lights, mirrors and no chips or cracks. All gauges are original and all work except the clock The motor is strong and runs great. Transmission is right there with either manual or automatic up and down shifts, just as it did originally. The brakes feel better with the front Turner Braking System than the original. The power steering works with good handling and drives straight, and stops straight. The ride is smooth and quieter with the quiet tone mufflers. The A/C works doesn’t get cold because there is no Freon in the system. The car has had recent maintenance service including carburetor rebuild, cooling system flush and new shocks installed The car was repainted the original color with SIKKENS paint and clear coat. The shop striped paint first before painting the car, cleaned and check frame. They did some mechanical repairs , new weather stripping, installed original reconditioned front dual calipers. Replaced front breaking system with the Turner disk brakes in1999. Complete Transmission rebuild in 2002. Just thought it need it. CONCLUSION It is a desirable American Classic car and a well maintained avanti you shouldn't let slip away. This is a nice original avanti too find not to mention what it feels like behind the wheel. First time at Auction in 36 years and still comes with everything the first owner recived when new. Always draws attention every time you go any where. If you like attention the avanti still turns head of the young and old alike Has the typical Avanti story, has been family owned since 1973. It was used mainly as a week end driver until 1979. It was then stored until 1991 and then became a week end used car again. Original owner worked as an electrical engineer on the Apollo NASA program. My father purchased in 1973 as second owner and worked out of the country and used it on week ends when home until his death in 1978. After his death the car was stored. The car received no attention after his death until 1990 and that is why it got so much work done to it in the earlier nineties. The car has most of the major things already done and can be a cruising car or added to a collection depending on your needs. Still driven weekly milage may be higher but close to milage stated.
