Feb 18, 2004 Bob, I owned the car from 1966 to 1976. had the air in only 1 season, it would turn off as soon as the temp was nice and cold, the sensor was not positioned correctly I quess. I made a bracket for that side. used a complete air conditioning system from the Sexy European car the Capri. The compressor was doublebelt, the under dash unit fit perfectly, only one holedrilled on the passenger side to hold the fan . It ran under the dash from on side of car to the other. Only had to move the map light and screw it under the dash unit, all ducts about 5-6 ran under the dash the full length. The unit added about 1 1/2 inches to dash, so with big knees it would hit. but didn't bother me. I had the car 10 years and no supercharger work, changed the oil one time. Never suped up the supercharger just stock. I put on 1953 Buick wire wheels with adapters from JC whitney. When I sold it, I had an R1 engine in it (later)spotted it on the back of a pickup truck, $125.00 with tranny) A black gentleman took it out of his avanti and put in a Cadillac engine. Gave him the R2 as the R1 never ran as good with the blower as the R2, which was very loose and sloppy. The previous owner (his dad a dealer) raced the car from the first day, he said that was the only way to break it in. The car went to North or South Carolina, never found it again. Also put on Hurst shifter with scrap parts, worked great. It was a fire red with fawn and elk interior. / Roland Gagne avantir3@yahoo.com
