This Avanti is truly a project car. The short version of the story is that Don Wolf bought this car second hand in 1968. He drove it about five years then started a frame off restoration. He bought a new chassis from SASCO, undercoated and painted it. Don bought all new parts to rebuild the engine, a new windshield, new lenses, distributor, window rubber, brake system and new fabric to reupholster the interior. He then stripped the then red paint and repainted it GM white lacquer. Then Don lost interest and it sat in a back garage for forty years.

I spent this past winter stripping the now micro cracked lacquer, which never saw the outside. Attached are photos of it stripped. I am rebuilding everything with the new parts Don collected. You might accurately say that I am building a brand new 62 Avanti, just without the help of an assembly line!

Soon I will have photos of it repainted back to close to the original metallic grey.
