Classic 1976 Avanti II Here's a nice Avanti II that is showing its age and needs work to be made 100% again. This Avanti II represents a hallmark in automotive design and is the last new design of the late Studebaker Corporation. Studebaker manufactured the Avanti in 1962 and 1963 in South Bend, Indiana. When Studebaker shut its doors, Studebaker dealers Newman-Altman bought the rights and tooling to the Avanti, renamed the car Avanti II, and produced the car until the late 1980s. Avanti lived on until the late 1990s as a specialty car. Few of these cars were made throughout its history and here's your opportunity to own one for a low opening bid, NO RESERVE price. Exterior: This Avanti II has never been restored, and restoration has never been attempted so you'll find no jury-rigging, bondo or other horrible do-it-yourself half-measures. The exterior of this car is quite presentable, but there are some cracks and some significant crazing on the top of the rear fenders. We are told this is typical for older Avanti IIs. The fiberglass body otherwise shows some wear but is very presentable. The car does need some body work and a repaint, but the paint (Saturn Bronze Firemist DuPont 5562L) is still serviceable. All outside chrome will need attention. Turn signal, brake and headlight lenses are all in good condition. Tires are now Michelin radials with approximately 75-80% tread left. Avanti mags are in overall good condition but will again need to be replated. This car needs a new grill. Interior: The interior of this Avanti II is in very good condition considering the age and mileage of this car. There is a rip in the lower back of the driver's side door. Passenger seat and rear seating area all okay. Carpet is typical mid-1970s shag - serviceable but probably needs to be replaced. Dash and overhead toggle switches in good condition and all gauges and switches work. Equipped with air conditioning (not connected), Pioneer Cassette player, cruise control, power windows. Door panels in good condition. Interior color is Gladstone Bittersweet Vinyl. Headliner in good condition. Rear package shelf in good condition. Trunk lining in fair condition and would need to be replaced for show. Mechanical: This Avanti II, like others of this vintage, is equipped with GM's proven 400 cu. in. V-8. Mileage of 157,742 believed to be correct. This car runs good but has been in storage and driven very little for the past 7 years. It needs a new ignition switch but starts, runs and drives. Brakes and brake lines are new. Current owner has car stored in his home garage and needs to sell to make room for another collector car he currently stores elsewhere. This Avanti II needs hog troughs/torque boxes. Some significant frame rust (another Avanti II hallmark) but serviceable if maintained. Because of the condition of the hog troughs/torque boxes and frames, the current owner has elected to begin bidding at a super-low, no-reserve price. Extras: This Avanti II comes with a protective car cover, screw set, Avanti Chassis & Body Parts catalog, workshop manual, book entitled "What the Shop Manual Won't Tell You" (3) Avanti Owners Guides and Accessories List for the Avanti. New headlight lense covers and gaskets are also included in the sale. Conditions: This Avanti II is sold as-is, where-is with no guarantees written, spoken or implied. This car can be driven but we would strongly recommend shipping this car or picking up the car. The car is centrally located in Omaha, Nebraska. Deposit of $1,000 via Paypal or Cashier's Check/Money Order due 7 days after end of auction and is non-refundable. Balance of purchase price will be due 10 days after the end of auction. If payment in full is not received within 2 weeks of end of auction, the seller reserves the right to re-list the car and appropriate feedback will be given. This Avanti II is being listed by Jaydublu's for our client here in Omaha.
