Up for bidding is my 1976 Avanti II. I have owned this car for seven years and have performed many expensive repairs during that time. I am an active Avanti Owners’ Club member. I believe I am the third owner and it has always been a CA car. The car was garaged by me and its previous owner. The person I purchased this Avanti from bought it in 1988 and was an Avanti Club member also. During the end of his ownership, he replaced the radiator, the power steering hoses, and replaced the brakes including calipers. This car is an extremely solid CA car with no rust issues. The hog troughs are very solid with no holes. I have tried to provide as many pictures as possible to represent the vehicle as accurately as I can. The vehicle has been repainted and it a high quality basecoat/clearcoat job. It is not perfect but VERY presentable as the pictures show. It looks nice when looking down the sides. There is no overspray on the rubber or trim. I had the deck lid repainted after I removed the luggage rack and filled the holes. There are minor stone chips on the nose which is normal. The body is an excellent for being 32 years old and is virtually crack-free. It has small crack on the passenger side “A” pillar shown in a picture. The chrome all around is excellent as the pictures show. If you know your Avantis, the “cow catcher” front bumper guard is easily removed with only a few bolts. The sunroof and power windows work. The weatherseals are soft and seal well overall. ALL of the original paperwork is still with the car. Window sticker, sales invoice, warranty card signed by Arnold Altman, sunroof info card and hand crank, owner’s manual (Avanti gave him a 1975 version, they didn’t change much year to year), I also have the Blaupunkt radio manual that didn’t make it in the picture . The car has four Michelin tires and new repro Magnum “500” wheels with correct center caps. The wheels and tires have been driven less than 3,000 miles. The engine is the original #s matching small block Chevrolet 400 CID with the Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor. The Engine was totally rebuilt three years/2,000 miles ago. Flat top pistons and a little hotter camshaft were installed to bring this engines performance closer to the non-emission versions offered a few years earlier. The vehicle still has its original factory emission equipment installed and operating. It recently passed the CA emissions SMOG test easily. This Avanti has a rebuilt front suspension with new coil springs, Delrin control arm bushings, shocks, bellcrank and fiberglass “mono” rear leaf springs and alignment. Most parts were purchased through Avanti suppliers. The interior is what is left to do. It is the original “full” leather interior. The headlining and rear package shelf is leather and the seats and side panels are full leather with suede inserts. The driver’s seat bottom is split and has tape to cover the torn area. There is a short crack approximately 1” long in the dash pad. It is next to the upper left corner of the speaker grille. If you zoom in the picture you can see it. The dash is not hard or brittle. The carpet is the original shag in very good condition including the original shag mats. The A/C is all there and turns on but is not cold. The heater core has been by-passed which means the heat does not get hot. I have a new heater core in the box included with the car to help with the heater repair . Also included with the car is three cans of the old R-12 Freon refrigerant to charge the A/C. The Freon alone is a $175.00 value. Here is a timeline for my repairs: • Purchased in Feb. 2001 • Front suspension rebuilt, new Delrin control arm bushings, steering bell crank, front and rear Gabriel gas shocks, fiberglass “mono” leaf springs with polyurethane bushings. July, 2001, mileage 10,300 miles. • Michelin tires and Magnum “500” wheels installed, Sept. 2003, 16,050 miles • New brake master cylinder, Sept. 2003, 16,000 miles. • Engine fully rebuilt, bored with new pistons, camshaft, also included; rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump, new water pump, air injection pump, alternator, new flexible transmission cooler lines, front transmission seal, rear transmission mount, transmission vacuum modulator. New spark plugs distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires, radiator hoses, misc. vacuum hoses. Fluids replaced, (coolant, power steering and transmission fluids.) April, 2005, 16,500 miles. • Rebuilt starter motor, June, 2007, 117,300 miles. This is a very solid Avanti that needs a new Avanti enthusiast home. You can put a seat cover on the driver’s seat and enjoy it like I have if you do not want to do the interior right away. I have set a reasonable reserve price considering the fresh engine and other repairs I have done. Also a solid Avanti with no rust issues is what you want to start with. Please feel free to email me your questions. I have the car advertised locally here in San Diego, CA so I reserve the right to cancel th e auction if I receive an acceptable private non-ebay offer before my reserve is met. High bidder must submit full payment within 3 days of auction end. If I think of anything else to add I will update the listing. Good Luck!, Pauley3
