Jan 12, 2013 My 1952 2R5 pickup was originally sold in Flandreau, South Dakota. Finding no dealer listed there I contacted the Moody county Historical Society, and a Mr. Dale Johnson gave me this information. Eide Implement Company was started in 1942 as an International Harvester appliance dealership, started by Steve Eide, an electrical repairman. After the war he added the full line of International farm implements - and Studebaker. A new building was built in 1948 to house the dealership. Eide sold the business in 1957 to Cherney Motor Company. Cherney really only wanted the building for his Pontiac dealership and officially dropped Studebaker entirely in 1959. His family says he probably never sold a new Studebaker. The building is at 121 West 2nd Ave. in Flandreau, SD and is still in use as a plumbing supply and home appliance business.
