1951 Champion - //////// I think he said his was an F3 and mine is an F5. Does this mean anything? Atleast thats what the tag on the firewall has. ////// --------- The "F" is for 2-door sedan. In the Champion series, a "3" was the middle-priced DeLuxe series while the "5" was for the Regal. A "1" was for the bottom-line Custom. ------------ The sunvisor was an accessory offered by the dealer on any model of Studebaker. The Custom (1) came with painted headlamp and tailamp trim rings, no trim around the windshield or rear window, no hood ornament, no gravel guards and no trim on the side of the car. The dash was plainer and the steering wheel had a simple horn button and no horn ring. The DeLuxe (3) series added chrome headlamp and tallamp trim rings, a rubber gravel guard on the rear fenders ahead of the rear wheel opening, a nicer interior with a bit more chrome on the dash. The Regal (5) added a chrome strip along the rocker panels, trim around the front and rear windows, a horn ring plus another upgrade in interior trim and upholstery. The Commander came in Regal (3) and State (5), with the Regal having similar trim to the Champion Regal. The State added a chrome gravel guard (instead of rubber), trim on the front fender tops, plus, again, a fancier interior.
