I suggest using Dupont Chromaclear, But I have been sucessful using many different Urethane clears over this base. Even some "cheap" Acrylic Urethane's (about $70/gal). I hope the "format" of this post shows up like what I'm typing.... Your Dupont Paint Jobber should be able to follow this formula without any problem. 1960 Jonquil Yellow Dupont ChromaBase Component unit weight (grams) total weight (grams) 801J HS WHITE 900.8 900.8 843J BRIGHT YELLOW 349.6 1250.4 807J LS BLACK 45.6 1296.0 853J RED ORANGE 13.6 1309.6 150K B/C BALANCER 1858.4 3168.0 175K BINDER 692 3860.0 ------------------------------------ Exact matches for my car ('56J, Snowcap White and Ceramic Green Metallic) were available, but only in Dulux. The numbers he gave me were 59738 for the white and 59734 for the green. (is this the formula that was posted today?) Apparently these numbers mean something to a store that sells DuPont products. He also said that there were "close matches" available for both colors in modern paints (according to him, the following codes could be used for any DuPont products) as follows: White, YM157 and Green, LS015. I don't know if that green is the Aston color that Bondo was referring to or not. I'd be interested to see how close those "close" matches really are, but i really have no way of telling...... -------------------------------------- The Dupont codes for Shoshone Red are 1860-H for Duco and 93-57805-H for > Dulux. The only grays I can find for '53 or '54 are Olympic Gray and Tacoma > Gray for '53 and Elko Gray and Cadet Gray for '54 (Tilden Gray is the only > '55 gray). I have a Studebaker chart showing color combinations for '53 > thru '55. The only two-tone shown for Shoshone Red is Sandusky Beige. ----------------------------------- current paint formula to > match metallic brown. The code is YS 413 (Dupont), use the finest flake > possible for the metallic. -------------------------------- 63 dupont sheet and got a very nice looking avanti gold match in seconds. The bad news is that the same color code was used for a 1991 S-10 pickup -------------------- For ChromaBase color: GS726 for Dulux: 55446 I'd probably get a small amount of Dulux (1/2 pint or whatever), spray it on a panel, then have them sample it with their Spectramaster color matching computer. That's probably where DuPont got the ChromaBase color. It is a VERY nice color. I have a 9G-F5 and a 9G-S2. ------------------------
