Car bogs down / stalls when shifting from Park/Neutral to drive/ reverse ----------- vacuum leaks /BobJ Nov 2001 ----------------- Do you have the dash pot "throttle kicker" adjusted correctly ? Jpoulos Nov 2001 -------------- Vaccuum leaks will cause this problem as will an internal fuel leak in the carb or a float level set too high. A little extra fuel when the engine idles down is enough to drown the engine when the idle drops that other 2-300 rpm when it goes in gear. Same thing with a little too much air. A longshot would be if you had missing or very weak springs in the distributor for the centrifugal advance. What happens is the distributor advances itself at say 1,000 or 1500 rpm. You check the timing and back it off because it's too high. Once the rpm drops to a point that the centrifugal advance is gone it's too far retarded to keep the car running at idle. Same effect if you were setting static timing with vacuum advance connected. Ernie Rizzolo Nov 2001 ---------
