Hi Bob, Can you clear up some confusion for me on the Avanti starters? I've seen several on E bay for sale over the years. I've asked several sellers how they determined that they are for the Avanti. I have a Prestolite catalog 1966 Canada form # PTC-80. The Studebaker listing in it shows that the US 1963-1964 used MDU 7025 for Std trans and MDU 7026 for the Auto trans. It also shows Canada, MDU 6017 for Std trans and MDU 6016 for Auto Trans. Then it has a listing for 1964 289 and 305 MDY 7023 Std.trans and MDY 7024 for Auto trans. I take it as it's for the R series engines. Can you clear this up for me? I'd like to know which # is for the Avanti's Thanks Larry --------------------------- The MDU is a four field starter used on the R series motors. The MDY is a two field starter used on most all other V-8s automatic = MDU 7026 manual = MDU 7025
