April 2004 ---------------------------- I installed one in Clarence ('49 2R10) a few years ago. The two large top pieces you are talking about are a bitch! I got 'em in but the (steel reinforced) seam refused to bend properly and I ended up with a few ripples in the cardboard along the damn seam. I put them in a half at a time. I didn't take the back glass out. Maybe that was the problem. I WILL NOT put another one in. Screw that crap! Loy ---------------------------------- I haven't put a new set in but I took a warped set and steam ironed them flat; then glued reinforment panels on top to hold the shape. On reinstall of the originals I put in half first along the seam. Used a putty knike to make sure they moved into the groove of the center top unit. Then had a time making a tool to pull the rear wimdow rubber forward to fit the rear of the panels in place. Top and seam first then around rear window. Recall trying not to skin off the cardboard surface. Are the new ones thicker than the originals maybe? Henry Votel Forest Lake, MN --------------------- I have put in quite a few of the stock cardboard ones. I am currently working on making them out of thin plastic, as they will last forever (instead of just a couple of years like the cardboard ones). Anyway, the two large roof pieces have to go together first. The two pieces only butt together when you curve them to the contour of the roof. I have riveted them, glued them and stapled them, all which work. I would try glue first, just make sure you have some time on your hands to hold the pieces in the curve postion until the glue dries. When the roof section is ready, you feed them up into the slot between the roof and the piece where the sun visors are. Then you tuck the back side into the top of the back glass gasket. The next pieces are the two that go on the side of the back glass. You tuck them in behind the glass gasket as well. Then a couple of screws along the edge of the door. Then the two long pieces that go over the door go on. You screw them into the wood/composite strips that run along the inside edge of the door. The front edge of these two pieces should have a fold in them. This rests against the same panel where the sun visors are. The thin strip like pieces wedge in between the side of the windshield part of the cab and the windshield trim pieces. The last pieces should be kind of rectangular and they fasten with screws below the curved pieces below the back glass. I can snap some pics if it would help, just let me know Reb ------------------------------ I questioned our chapter guru on Stude's about the C cab headliner's and he said the secret to proper installation is to use a water spray mist on the reverse side of the liner to make it more flexible before installing.
