Can't tell for sure if it's more powerful since I've never done any timed runs with it. I do know however, that it idles more smoothly. The big difference I've found so far is that the gas mileage over the first 100 miles jumped from the dismal 12 mpg it was getting to 17 mpg--nearly a 50% increase! The old points were not in bad shape but the wiring to the ballast resistor and coil were frayed. I highly recommend the changeover based on my first 100 miles. ---------- Delco - Pertronix Delco window style distributor. Fitted with a Pertronix it's performed admirably but I've never been able to get the centrifugal advance where it is supposed to be. There is enough travel but it didn't come in fast enough. It seemed there was no combination of springs and weights that would give me the total advance needed at the recommended 1600 rpm. I have been getting close but even when I thought I had it right, it would seem to change the next time I checked. Today I decided to try another combination of springs and went to very light tension that would still snap the weights back when I let it go. BUT, when I put the rotor on it wouldn't snap back without help. I loosened the rotor just a little and it would return just fine. At first I thought that somehow tightening the rotor down was causing enough flex the advance plate to cause binding. Realizing that there just isn't enough force to cause the metal plate to bend I looked at the inside of the rotor and could see a little shiny spot on the molded in bracing. 20 seconds of filing and the advance comes in quicker and returns to where it is supposed to be.
