Valve lift calculation. 1. Rotate engine until valve/spring is all the way up. 2. From a reference point measure length to top of spring retainer. 3. Rotate the engine until spring/valve is fully compressed. 4. Measure distance from reference point to top of retainer. 5. Subtract the two values and that is valve lift. If you want to know cam lift. 1. Divide the valve lift by the rocker arm ratio. If you don't know the rocker arm ratio. 1. Measure the distance from the push rod insertion point on the rocker to the center point (fulcrum) of the rocker arm. 2. Measure distance from center of valve stem to the center point (fulcrum) of the rocker arm. 3. Divide the larger number by the smaller number and that eqauls your rocker arm ratio.
