Nov 2003 - 60 Lark - I have installed new windlace in my 1960 Lark 4 door and retained the old headliner. Heres how. Cut away the old windlace, or pull it out. Carefully, with a pair of needle nose pliers, try to grab a piece of the headliner through the area that the windlace used to be and force it upwards, gently, no more than a eighth inch, maybee a little more, so that it becomes disconnected from the serrated edges of the retainer. You should be able to pull a small section of the headliner down. Once you have a piece down that you can grab between your index finger and thumb, use a rubber spatula to push up the headliner from front to back. Once you release part of the headliner from the sawtooth looking retainer, you will possibly see what you are up against. Try an area about 6 inches first an try to see what your objective is. Basically the headliner is tucked up in there and just so happens to grab on to the saw like teeth. Once the headliner is released from front to back, just the sides it should be very evident how to install the new windlace. I sorry if this sounds confusing but it is the best that I can tell you. It can be done.
