this is THE 1963 Studebaker Avanti show car entered in the Detroit Autorama in 1963. papers from Studebaker Historical Museum indicate 'show finish'. After the auto show, it was retro-fitted with an R-3 engine by the Granatellis. It has a factory leather driver's seat ONLY. It has just finished a 3-year frame-off restoration by Classic Auto Restoration in Louisiana and Myer's Studebaker in Ohio. Everything was done right. It is stunning and perfect. It is the rarest Studebaker other than a prototype you will ever see. I have owned this car since 1978. The interior was custom made by Phantom to include the leather driver's seat. I saved the original seats if anyone doubts that it came with leather. A similar car went for $69,000.00 on a TV auction recently- but it was not the show car . There is only one - this is it. I am not going to post a picture, but I will send you some if I talk to you on the phone 318 918 9671 or email me drbill212@aol.com If you know what this car is and can afford it, bid on it. I will not reveal the reserve- that is private information. But if you want a buy it now price, contact me and i may put one up. I will pay to ship it to you if I get the right money, but reserve the right to change my mind if it's overly expensive. I will NOT ship it open- only enclosed. Dr. Bill Pogue ps- I have a 1964 GT Hawk with Solanki R3 coming up next year and a 1953 Coupe with factory extended rear fenders and continental kit- it is a mild custom with r4 clone engine(figure 2 more years on that one) On Aug-16-09 at 15:06:32 PDT, seller added the following information: 1963 Detroit Autorama Show Car Built by Studebaker for display at the 1963 Autorama. Special ‘show finish’ noted on build sheet from Studebaker Archives.
