History This car was originally assigned to Studebaker's Public Relations Office in NYC. And it is possible that it was used by the media, as I have an article of a car during that period that was driven to Sebring Raceway in Florida by a couple journalists. However, I can not confirm this. The car was sold to the first registered owner in Texas in 1963. Original paperwork included with the car. The cars was registered in Texas for three years and then relocated to California. It was not registered in California. I purchased the car from the 2nd owner, who had the car for several months, and did not register it or perform any work on it. Effectively, I am the 2nd registered owner. I have had the car about three years. Condition: The car is in very good condition. It is not a 400-point concours show car. However, it could be converted into one It is stock. It is in its original state, in that any parts that were replaced were correct replacements, It hasn't been altered to my knowledge or by me other than using period correct, aftermarket wheels and tires. The engine does have 87000 miles on it, based on the odometer reading. And it does run well. It does have the signs of that mileage, in that it uses a little oil. The valve seals have NOT been replaced, so that may clear that up. And it does mark its territory. The Good: Hog troughs solid with no rust. I will include a full carb kit, if requested. The clock does not work The vacuum gauge does not work. I haven't determined whether the gauge is bad or not, but I have a serviceable, nice looking one that will be included, if requested. Front end should be rebuilt. It tracks well, drives well, doesn't wander. It does sometimes squeak. However, I will include a complete front-end rebuild kit originally purchased from Studebaker International ( $1000) if car is purchased for the Buy-it-Now price. The Ugly: The engine area needs to be detailed. I have all of the stainless steel ignition wire shielding, though it is not shown installed in the photos. Bumpers have some pits. The rear bumper left upright is rusted in the bottom. Not easily visible. Shipping Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. My assistance in any shipping arrangement is negotiable.
