New photos taken/added this morning, April 16, 2009; and yes it is snowing here in Southern Utah. 1963 Studebaker Avanti - A true classic, gorgeous lines! Built and designed by Raymond Loewy. 240 H.P., Turbo Thrust V-8 Automatic Engine Pearl White Paint All original chrome trim in very good/excellent condition New tan leather buckets, reupholstered original rear seats, new black carpeting Automatic, power steering Caliper disc/power brakes All new wheel bearings, new whitewall tires Excellent body, built in roll bar Vanity mirror and pop up beverage tray Factory installed air conditioning*, working heat, rain gutters, grille, and original mirrors (* = see notes below) Working original AM radio and speakers Includes small jack, spare tire, and bonuses of reprint of the original full Workshop Manual AND a custom made tool to assist in removing the gas tank cap; I had trouble with turning this style wing on the cap and had a custom tool made (tool is not pretty but it works). This car is in very good/near fine overall condition; has the following deficiencies as far as I am aware of, and ALL replacement parts in stock and available from my source with the cost in parenthesis: the RPM gauge and temp gauges work intermittently. The clock does not work at all and I have been advised to preserve the value of the vehicle NOT to replace it. The odometer reading is not correct; in searching prior owner title information and registration, it is estimated that there are 112,000 actual miles on this car. 4 small chips to the paint, chip sizes less than a dime or smaller. Missing front stabilizer/sway bar ($167 + bushings, brackets, retainers are extra). *A/C compressor missing ($325). Driver's side door needs an internal repair kit (fiberglass $325/reinforcement kit $222). Window regulators are VERY sticky (about $163 each to repair). Ashtray can is missing. Some minor cracks to outer lenses of exterior marker lights consistent with the age of the vehicle. When I bought this car, the above items were NOT disclosed. I have driven it almost daily to find any quirks or problems that might pose a disappointment with your purchase. I have also removed the rear seats to fix the gas tank seal and found no signs of rust to the chassis and that the original colors were white exterior and bright orange interior with fawn carpet and trim. SPECIAL SERVICE OPTION: If you replaced ALL the parts mentioned/needed to make this a daily driver, you would incur parts fees of approximately $1200 plus labor. I have a resource who can assist you by phone in doing the repairs yourself. If you prefer, I can arrange to order the parts with your deposit and have the work done here prior to pickup for $2500 plus tax, including ALL parts AND labor costs. These costs are above/added to/on top of the final value of your winning bid. If you request this service, this fee will be added as a handling fee which will have NO MARK-UP or FEES paid to me for this service. At your request, I will arrange the service, ordering parts and monitoring the quality of the repair. You will be billed ONLY the only the actual parts/shipping invoice and Custom Body Work Shop invoice. Repair of the vehicle by me/seller at YOUR expense will require 1 extra week's notice for pickup after auction's close and cleared deposit to give the body shop time to give us an appointment and proper attention. Upon email request, I can provide photos for you to see their current work on a frame-off rebuild of my 1987 Chevrolet Silverado. My feedback has been 100% positive for NINE years and I would like the buyer of this vehicle to be assured that I am providing complete disclosure of ALL known defects. If you would like to personally inspect this car or even have a member of the Studebaker's Club or Avanti Owner's International Organization visit and inspect the vehicle for you, please contact those organizations independently and request assistance. The members are known to be quite generous with their time and information; with many members that live in my area you might even find that this service is rendered to you just for the asking. Serious inquiries only; price is firm - no trades please. Thanks for stopping by my page. Many thanks to eBayer Bob that noticed that I has mistakenly used the body number and had the wrong calculations for the number off the assembly line; the VIN number is 63R3142 (has been double checked that the steel tag is bolted to the frame under the heater blower) and the first Avanti off the line was 1001, hence that would make this partilular vehicle number 2141 off the assembly line.
