For Sale 1963 Studebaker Avanti R1 Assembly number#: 63RQ2540 Vin#: 63R3434B 88K miles on the stock RI engine. Automatic, power steering and brakes. Air Conditioner does not work. Price: $7100 Summary: Mechanically sound, needs cosmetics. Stock car except for: 1) paint 2) re-colored interior and 3) wheels. Clean body, mechanically sound and runs great. Hog troughs in good shape. Needs interior and re-chrome. Gray paint color is OK, however not stock color. Original was gold with ‘faun’ interior. Appears the interior was re-colored gray. Other observations: Compression good. Radio(fuse?) and tach not working. Fuel gauge is sticky (a new sender is in a box). Air conditioner does not work. Mechanic said “there is a hole in the compressor”. Correct seats for this car, however not stock, as with the rest of the interior, they need to be reupholstered. Extra front end suspension parts, seals and gaskets. Rust is on the A pillars and most of the chrome shows spots. I had the mechanic put the car on rack checking for rust on the Hog troughs - they are in good shape. I personally believe the interior/insulation held moisture and created a surface rust on the A-pillars. Other metal interior such as rollbar are OK. This car’s history: Essentially a one owner car. Appears the original owner repainted it grey in late 80’s. My Dad purchased it in 2000 from the original owner who had it in storage. He started restoring it, however fell ill and could not finish. Recent service records. August of 07: All oil changed, brake pads/wheel cylinders replaced, new belts and oil pan gasket. New shocks. new exhaust, including those awesome sounding glass packs! I take it for a 30-50 mile drive about 4-6 times a year. 2003 -2004, Front end rebuilt (king pins, bushings, ball joints) . New Radiator. New Holly Carb. Additional pictures available on request.
