This is a 1963 Studebaker Avanti that has not run since the early 1980's. The odometer states 2500 miles, which I imagine is 102,500 miles. For sale with NO RESERVE. It has been stored inside since the late 1970's, spending only 2 months or so outside in that entire period of time. This is an R2 model car, which came with a centrifugal style supercharger. However, this car had it's supercharger removed early in it's life and was run in naturally aspirated form. In 1976 the engine, transmission, and most of the ancillary parts (carburetor, distributor, alternator, etc) were rebuilt. Around this time the car was also fitted with an air conditioning kit from Avanti Motors, the company that took over Avanti cars and parts after Studebaker went out of business. The R2 cars were not available with factory A/C. The wheels that are currently on the car are aftermarket and not original to the car. Overall the car is in nice original condition. It has not been taken apart or meddled with over time. It still appears to be wearing the original coat of paint. The original fiberglass body is in good shape with no cracks or other damage. The gel coat and finish has began to flake and peel in certain places as seen in the pictures. The passenger side torque tube/steel reinforcement in the rocker panel area is rusted, although the drivers side still appears to be in solid condition. The rest of the chassis is very solid. All of the glass is in nice condition as is all of the trim and emblems. The bumpers will need new chrome but look to be solid and usable still. The interior is in decent condition, although it would appear that mice were attempting to make a nest at one point. I don't see any visible damage, but it smells of rodent nest inside. Has black leather/vinyl. The carpet is missing in the driver's side footwell. All of the trim, switches, etc are present and in good shape. The key has gone missing. The driveline is solid but may need attention after all these years. I have not attempted to start the car at this time. The exhaust is rusted and will need to be replaced. Overall this car would be a great starting point for an authentic restoration. It is 100% complete and in remarkable shape for being 45+ years old. It has a clear Michigan title. In the car is also an original Avanti factory repair manual as well as a set of NOS hubcaps from Avanti motors. I will be out of town from March 14-24 and will only be able to communicate via email. I can have someone available for pick up or shipping as needed during this time with notice. We have a forklift and can assist with loading or transporting as needed. We are located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. ~30 minutes north of the Ohio Border and 45 minutes West of Detroit. Thanks for looking and let me know if there are other questions. I check ebay message often and will respond promptly: Reid - 734-945-9322
