Vehicle Description 1963 Avanti R-1 V8 When my friend asked me to help sell her late husband's Avanti, I was thrilled. It's one of those vehicles that sticks in your head. Not many of these beautifully styled fiberglass automobiles were produced by the financially troubled Studebaker, just under an average of 125 per month. Already two years in the waiting, from design to production, it was Studebaker's answer to Chevrolet's very popular Corvette. Today, like the Corvette, Avanti has stood the test of time with its unweining popularity. Its classic lines, even today, turns heads and get fingers pointing; only the earliest of Corvettes seem to get that kind attention anymore. This Avanti has only 40,604 miles. This is a good automobile for a new owner to bring back to "show me off" life with very little TLC. All chrome is good and intact. Windows have no cracks, scratches, chinks, or nicks. Driver's electric window seems to be disabled. The body is in good shape; has a slight dimple on the upper right portion of the passenger door, as well as a bondo patch on the lower right (see photo). No rusting or pitting. This car is worthy of a good paint job. The fawn-colored upholstery is fair with one split seam on the back of the driver's seat. Headliner and door panels are in good shape. Carpet is also good. Steering wheel is in good shape; dash cover show a few cracks/patches. I don't know why, but the air conditioning and AC console controls have been removed and are in the trunk. Glove box features a mirrored vanity tray. Rear window deck features a trunk access hatch door (I believe that was a standard feature on the Avanti). Tires are not road worthy (cracked around thread). Registration and insurance current. I tried to describe this Avanti as accurately as possible to my knowledge, but you may have a question to something I missed. If you have a question, please post it no later than 24 hours before the close of auction. I will make every effort to get you a satisfactory answer as quickly as possible. The time to ask questions is before you bid. This vehicle sells as-is, where-is, without warranty (expressed, implied, or otherwise). Seller reserves the right to end auction early without notice should vehicle no longer becomes available. Pick up and transportation is buyer's sole responsibility. Vehicle pick up must be completed within 10 days of auction close unless satisfactory arrangements can be made with the seller. $500.00 (USD) non-refundable deposit and communication is expected within 48 hours of auction close, paid through PayPal; balance of funds is expected within 7 days from close of auction paid in cash or bank cashiers check (USD only). Sorry, no personal checks will be accepted. All taxes, title, documentation, insurance are buyer's sole responsibility. Your bid is a legal binding contract. Please consider your decision carefully before you bid. Failure to produce deposit, pay balance remainder, or pick up of vehicle as specified above or arranged will forfeit buyer's claim to the vehicle; vehicle will be relisted, negative feedback posted, fraudulent act/s reported to ebay, and deposit forfeited. Thanks for Looking!
