12AAV223100037027 Extremely nice and unique 1988 burgundy/purple Avanti convertible which I have owned since 1989. This was last year for the sporty handling Monte Carlo based Avantis; later models used the wallowing, poor handling Caprice chassis with numb steering and no road feel. I know, I owned later models and they did not compare to this Avanti. This Avanti has been substantially upgraded and improved over the car that left factory but most changes are visually subtle unless pointed out. It has custom door panels that hold stereo speakers, Budnik steering wheel, full leather interior with color coordinated welts, reshaped two tone dash which prevents leather lifting(an Avanti problem), Avanti logo cut into, not pasted on, dash, custom colored carbon fiber dash and console that matches exterior color, Smith's "orchid" gauges, digital gear display, B&M ratchet shifter, new a/c control unit, custom turn signal/high beam indicators, stereo with 6 cd changer in trunk, powder coated door sills and rear view mirror with temp and compass. Outside it has a 383 tuned port fuel injected V8 built in 2007, Aluminum weave hood pad, 17" tires with BBS rims, Aero side body kit, rear spoiler, rear lowering coils, custom cloisonne Avanti emblems, custom side marker lenses, black out headlights, cool breeze gas filler cap, matching convertible top(about three years old) and remote power door locks. Odometer reads 27,974 on gauges that were installed with respray and new interior four years ago. Actual mileage is closer to 50,000. This vehicle has been lovingly cared for and shows minimal wear including some paint chips and typical leather wear. Always garaged and regularly serviced. It is a great driver for short or long distances. Driver's sun visor was removed and misplaced, otherwise car is complete.
