One of approximately 20 convertibles made in 1989. It was featured in the April 3, 1989 Newsweek Magazine. When Michael Kelly started producing cars under the New Avanti Motor Corporation in 1987, they decided to produce convertibles as their top of the line flagship car. These cars were show stoppers, and as a matter fact were the top prize give away on Wheel of Fortune in 1989 I've had this 1989 Avanti, for 7 years, and it has run perfectly the whole time. I have had to have some parts replaced, finally rebuilding the transmission, new starter, fuel pump, and recore radiator, but the car has always run well. This is my third Avanti, having had a 1967 and 1976 and this has been by far my favorite. It looks so well as a convertible! This car is being sold over $4000 below book value because it is being sold as is, and the inside does need work. The driver's seat needs reupholstering and the passenger front is good, but does have wear. I feel the back seats are in very good shape for a car this age. the main problem with the interior, is the two main windows. The drivers and passenger main windows do not work. I have already replaced the switches, and have put in working motors, so a lot of the work has been done. But it still needs work work on the carriages or window frames that hold the windows in the door when they go down. Also, the dashboard's heater unit is a little pushed in and needs to be remounted, and the carpeting which was replaced once, needs a little work, but it is in very good condition. The convertible top is in good condition, but has a very minor tear.. I have bought a cd player that works fine, but the air conditioning which I never use on a convertible does not blow cold, as it probably needs to be recharged, like I said, I've never recharged it since I always drive with the top down. So again, I am saying, the car's inside could use some reconditioning, but still, is in very good condition for it's age, and I have given a healthy discount for those of you who might want to get the car in top condition one more time. The car has approx 83 thousand miles on it, as I have put about 3000 per year on it since I bought it 7 years ago, and it has always started perfectly, summer and winter here in Chicago. People still stop me at traffic intersections with numerous questions, many thinking it is new, as the car still looks great and it's styling is timeless. Again,it is sold as is with no warranty. I have many of the original brochures and documents. Buyer responsible for pick up or delivery of vehicle. Payment in full prior to receipt of vehicle.
