Vehicle Description Today I am listing a 1970 Post-Studebaker Avanti II. While this car is a complete, running car, it is in need of restoration and some mechanical work before it could be considered a driver. This Avanti is a 2-owner car with all the original documentation including the owner's manuals and all warranty books! The original sale date of this car was 11/20/1970 and the current owner has had it since 12/29/1971. As with any car, it has its good, bad, and ugly points which I'll try to cover the best I can right now. The Good * Nice, complete, original Avanti II which has not been materially altered throughout its lifetime * Magnum 500 Wheels are all in presentable condition with the spare showing NO eveidence of ever being mounted on the car * Bumpers are solid and not bent. * All lights and lenses present and accounted for * No significant body damage (there is minor damage, however) * Original 350 Cubic Inch Stingray engine * 3.31:1 Twin Traction rear axle * Dash is in very good condition * Headliner is in very good condition * All glass good * New brake master cylinder * Factory Air Conditioning * Original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio * Engine runs (needs tune-up) with no rattles or noises and carries good oil pressure * Transmission engages and does not appear to slip * Brakes feel good in the driveway but have not been road tested * Steering wheel in above average condition * Charging system in good working condition The Bad * Seat covers are worn and will need replaced * Right side damage (see pictures). This damage is very minor and looks worse than it is. Basically, it is a deep scratch with a very small crack at the front wheel opening. * Hog troughs are weak. They may be repairable but may also need replacement. * Suspension components appear to have a good amount of age * Damage to trunk lid (see pictures) and trunk latch is missing * Tachometer is inoperable * Temperature gauge appears to be inoperable as well The Ugly * The colors * As is common with any Avanti, the frame does need some repair. It is more solid than many I have seen but look at the pictures and decide for yourself. Please view additional photos of the car at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/studebakerdaytona62/album?.dir=/3801 and feel free to e-mail me directly at dayton62@comcast.net if you have any questions at all or if you would like to have any other areas photographed.
