1973 Avanti II

Here is a beautiful, classic, very dependable 1973 Avanti II Sport Coupe 
for sale with it's Chevy 400ci V8 and 3 speed automatic transmission. I am 
the 2nd owner purchasing it from the original owner in MO. in 2004. The 
original owner ordered this car in early 1973 and made delivery of it at
 the Avanti factory in South Bend IN.

He then drove it to his home in Canada where it was garage kept for several
 years until he moved to OK. and then to MO. I trailered the car back to the
 Houston area where I live. When I purchased this car, the owner gave me all
 the books and maintenance records. This is a very orginal automobile. The 
original spare tire and tools are still in the trunk well!

Paint and exterior:

The car was painted professionally in 1990. It was pinstriped with a beautiful
 design along the body lines. There are 3 tiny hairline cracks in it's fiberglass 
body (typical Avanti cracks). The front clip has a slight bubble (1 inch in diam.
)Which was probably due to bad prep before painting. There are several tiny rock
 chips. Overall, this car is beautiful and a real head turner! Both " hog trough"
 are in great condition.

 Interior:

Since I have owned the car I have replaced original shag carpet with a loop and 
pile blend (same maroon color). All gauges work. No leatherette seat tears of any
 kind, nor a cracked padded dash. New seat belts installed as an upgrade.


Engine/Powertrain:

Chevy 400ci V8 with 3 speed auto transmission. As far as any pending mechanical
 items to be concerned about, I could only suggest the replacement of new valve 
guides; When the car sits for some period and it is started, puffs of smoke are
 present from the exhaust for about 3 minutes and then it clears; typical older 70's 
original engines. The main seals have a slight leak. All else is great. I 
have replaced all belts, tires, (new Firestone "Fire Hawk" radials, less than 
200 miles on this set), battery, hoses, and radiator core cleaning. This is a 
very clean engine. All new duel exhaust (from front to rear) was recently 
installed.

Options:

Cold A/C, Pioneer stereo radio w/ cassette, "Hella" driving lights, power
 windows, power brakes, and power steering.

Overview:

 Although only driven monthly to car shows, I feel very strongly that this 
car is a a dependable daily driver. This car is sound. It is very pretty and
 as I drive it, I get looks from everybody. The Avanti has been a car I always 
wanted from the first time I saw a turquoise 1963 as a young teenager. My dream 
came true by finally owning this exotic cult car from the past. I have other 
hobbies I want to pursue and it's time for me to make someone else's dream to 
come true too. I know I will have regrets about selling my "Love", but I have 
to think that it's only a car. I'll miss it, I have tons of photos if you are interested.
