    1977 Avanti II mufflers

Working on a customer's car. We're putting 2 1/4" exhaust on it. He wants Flowmaster mufflers on it. He said Flowmaster Plush. I do not see them listed on the Flowmaster site. Anybody got a recommendation or part number? I do not have the original mufflers so I can not measure them for length or offset in and out. Since every body and their brother have Flowmasters, I prefer my good old glass packs, but this is what he wants. The exhaust came from Don Simmons. I just have to fill in the blanks.

Flowmaster doesn't appear to list a "plush"...they're listed by series number. Their mufflers are also listed by dimensions. I have Magnaflows on my '70...I like their sound better than Flowmasters I've had on a different car. They have a more mellow sound that opens up with acceleration. In my experience Flowmasters are more raspy and loud...but we all have different preferences.

I also find the Flowmaster on the harsh side. I always prefer the Walker Dyna Flow series and they make them in several sizes & outlet configurations. Check out their website for more info.

Originals were approx 26" in length, 2" in and 2" out, (I.D.) and no offset.

put on either dynomax super turbo or cherry bomb turbo.. Throaty under acceleration yet you have a nice sound at idle Without waking the dead. My 53 gm has 2 1/2 pipes with dynomax ultraflow with a x-pipe.. Quiet when cruising but definitely opens up when you punch it.. It also has 400hp

My 67 has Flo-42553 mufflers on it, they are 2 1/2" but they may help you find the part number for your 2 1/4" or you could shim them. They have been on the car for many years and are holding up very well.

Thank you for answering that question! Yesterday I determined 25" over all. So that's close. But I was thinking center inlet and offset outlet. I'll take another look. Your info was very important.
