The replacement comes from a 1967 Ford Fairlane with power disk brakes and a 6.4 liter (390 ci) engine. It's available from most parts stores. Autozone carries one replacement. M1642 reman $40.99. NAPA carries three variations on the theme. TS101379 reman $29.99. UP 36248 new $89.99. UP495 rebuild kit $26.49. I chose the Autozone reman. It has a stainless sleeve in the barrel. The NAPA reman is bored. The new NAPA model specified a different size for the rear brake line fittings. I wasn't about to rebuild the one that failed. The Autozone reman has the same casting number as the original in the car. The fittings on my lines bolted into it without a hitch. The cylinder even came with a trick set of plastic fittings and hoses that made the bench bleed so complete that I didn't have to bleed the brakes. Peter C. King
