The facility was run by two Studebaker mechanics (Richard Dahl and a fellow named Harvey, do not remember his last name) who worked for the Studebaker dealer (Studebaker Miami).
When Stude closed down in 1966, they purchased this facility from Miami Studebaker. I believe the operation was ongoing well into the late 70's, perhaps even 1978-9. Dick retired and sold the operation to some young guys who claimed they loved old cars and would keep the operation going. In less than a few years they quite the business and had all the parts loaded in huge dumpsters and carted off to the smelter........so many of us cried;-(

The Avanti with the Thrush side pipes was owned by long time Studebaker/Avanti devotee Edmund DeSilver...a retired Delta Airline pilot. His son James has an R4 Avanti.
