Any idea where to find new/used or replacement motor?
Or someone who can rebuild one.
I'm pretty good with rebuilding things, but I can't get the circular bushings back in place.

Napa, as well as most automotive ac-heating, radiator shops have heater motors listed by mounting, rotation, shaft size etc. I used one I picked from Napa books but don,t remember #. A knowledgeable parts person can match it up for you.

Thanks, the motor looks pretty typical of a auto fan motor. I'll try all the local parts stores. Unfortunately I am in a small town and have not yet found a really knowledgeable parts person.

thanks again

Small or large town, they are far and few between these days. If I come across motor number will let you know. Sasco also has a lot of numbers

I too have been doing some looking, since I'm changing my '53 to 12-volt.
So far the ones I've found all have ventilated cases; fine for an interior application but not desirable in a weather sensitive area. I googled the part number and got no hits, indicating SASCO doesn't list it in the pdf format. Dennis does list the heater motor for inside the right front fender. It's pretty well sealed, as it must be.
Since my 6-volt defroster motor still works, I may just add a resistor.

That outside climatizer motor will probably work. I used the same motor on both the climitizer and defrost. Do not know if these are all the same as I used a climiatizer unit I acquired on e-bay and don,t know original application. These motors are listed as vented , unvented
and sealed. As I remember I used a unvented motor as I ordered sealed several and keep getting unvented so sealed housing sections myself and let it go. A little black silicone pressed into the seam between the sections as there was no other opening on the unvented motor.

It just dawned on me, I changed mine to 2sp motors to do away with resistor switch. I used a reversible motor. They both use the same 2.31
mounting stud spacing with 5/16 dia. shaft. As long as shaft is an acceptable length the motor size shouldn,t be too critical as you have plenty of room around motor. I can't remember rotation direction.

SASCO has (heater motor part 1554985)listed for 62 Hawk. Looks like the same thing in the picture. Anyone have experience with this as a replacement?

Three wires indicates it's probably a 2sp motor. Order it and give it a try as Sasco is
excellent on returns if it doesn't fit. I'm almost certain that it will.

I checked with NAPA and they matched the Delco part number to an equivalent. They did not have it in stock but I will have Tuesday.
It is a 2sp reversable, but for $22 I'll give it a try.
When I get it I'll post manufacturer and part number and let everyone know how it fits.

Yup, if you have a two speed motor just clip the resistor off the back of the switch and run another wire to the motor. Probably a more elegant/efficient way to get low speed. I did find a single speed 12V one for my '55 but it took some looking. The shafts tend to seize to the bushings, and sometimes the bushings pop out of their retainers before you can free them up, then you have a pile of parts not a motor :( I think I actually had to use two used motors to build one that worked.

I think even if I got a new one I would disassemble it and put a light smear of synthetic grease on the shaft in the bushing areas, also make sure the felt oil retainers are well soaked with oil.

A 22 dollar heater motor. You must know somebody. I don't think a made in China would be that cheap. Especially a two speed.

I had my NAPA look the heater motors up once, I was so surprised I found something that works, I bought up a bunch of them. The defrost motor should also be 'that easy'

Picked up the motor from NAPA. It is a perfect fit.
NAPA part # 655-1020 made by Siemens (Siemens part number PM351X). Cost $22.88 plus tax
It is a single speed reversible motor and yes it is made in China.
Only noticeable difference from the original is the through bolts are studs that extend about 1 inch out the back. Adjust to fit mounting and cut off excess

Thanks for all the input.

One more note. The motor from NAPA is sealed. No ventilation.
