The search is finally over. (Picture is at the bottom of this page.)

Around May 20,1998, I found a website of an Alloy wheel dealer where, amazingly, one of their offerings was manufactured in only one size. It was the one....

Quick Wheel Specs for the Ace Alloy A-106

The means used to arrive at what would fit was a combination of 'what was on the car' + 'how much wiggle room was available' + 'all the fitment specs for every advertised wheel' I could find, not to mention that you have to temper all this with a 'style' you like. It certainly would be so easy if all those sizes, offsets, styles, bolt patterns, etc were capable of being put into a database and cross referenced.

I had toyed with the idea of spacers and adapters, both of these are as different as night and day. Spacers may have a few 'safe' applications, but I don't think these can exceed 1/4 inch. Adapters are a much more practical application and can be used in a variety of situations. Mainly, the thickness you use will have to be longer than the existing lug bolts or you'll have to cut them off. Anyway, no one that manufactures these will attest to their safety record, or acceptance by local authorities. So that idea was trashed..

One of the most knowledgable SDC members, Barlow Soper, replied to a letter from me and confirmed a lot of the hypotheses that were arrived at thru many hours of calculations. Mainly, if you go wider, you have to split the difference evenly, no problems with 7 inch rims, and the rear can take almost anything.

Each wheel has a load rating of 1580 lbs, is painted silver pearl, clear coated and has a polished outer lip.

      Here's it is.......

I'd mentioned on the other wheel pages that after this was all over, I would publish a paper on the sizes and availability of various wheels. Most of this is now on my Tech Pages
